Here's how to measure your inseam:
Measuring your inseam is crucial for finding pants that fit properly. You can do it yourself or have someone else help you for a more accurate measurement.
What you'll need:
Steps:
Wear shoes: Put on the shoes you typically wear with pants. This will ensure the measurement accounts for the heel height.
Stand straight: Stand with your back against a wall, with your feet shoulder-width apart and your weight evenly distributed.
Have someone measure (recommended): The most accurate way is to have a friend or family member measure. They should place the end of the measuring tape at your crotch (the point where your legs meet).
Measure to the ankle: Extend the measuring tape straight down the inside of your leg to the point where you want your pants to end. This is usually at the top of your shoe or slightly below your ankle bone. Keep the tape taut but not stretched.
Record the measurement: Note the number on the measuring tape. This is your inseam length.
Measuring alone:
Follow steps 1 and 2 above.
Place the measuring tape at your crotch as best as you can, holding it in place with one hand.
Extend the tape down your leg as described in step 4 above. It can be tricky to keep the tape straight and accurate on your own.
Use a mirror to help ensure the tape is straight and positioned correctly.
Record the measurement. Consider taking a few measurements to ensure consistency.
Using well-fitting pants as a guide:
Lay a pair of pants that fit you well on a flat surface.
Smooth out any wrinkles.
Measure from the crotch seam down to the bottom of the pant%20leg.
Record the measurement.
